Flemish minister-president Peeters meets with Polish President Komorowski
On the occasion of the official visit of the Polish President Mr Bronisław Komorowski, to Belgium in mid-November, he also met with the Flemish minister-president of Flanders, Kris Peeters on 14 November. They discussed the excellent bilateral relations between Poland and Flanders. Minister-president Peeters referred to his visit to Poland in the run-up to the Polish Presidency of the EU in 2011. He explicitly discussed his visit to Gdansk and the logistical activities of Flemish companies in this region.
The Flemish-Polish partnership is founded on the Cooperation Agreement signed in 1994, which is implemented through three-year working programmes. The seventh working programme (2012-2014) contains several new angles, ranging from Flanders in Action to smart logistics and remembrance education. The President also mentioned the prominent Flemish share in the trade relations with Poland. Poland is our tenth biggest export market, worth approximately 5 billion euros in 2011.
During the meeting, the government leaders agreed to further develop these excellent relations. Minister-president Peeters argued in favour of a sectorial approach and a maximum bundling of the initiatives.
